Live Awesome was the mantra of Huntersville North Carolina's Kevin Carosa during his year-old battle with a rare germ cell cancer. The Live Awesome tournament was founded in 2010 to honor the “Live Awesome” legacy of the late Kevin Carosa and to raise awareness of and research funding for the rare germ cell cancer that took the North Meck High School graduate’s life at age 21. Carosa was well known among his friends and classmates for the elaborate back yard football league he operated, which included many North Meck High football players at the time. Many of those same back yard ballers return every year to participate in the Live Awesome tournament, which features competitive and recreational divisions. The event is the flagship event conducted by Live Awesome Charities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.Donations to Live Awesome currently are split between Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center and Lawrence H. Einhorn - Indiana University Cancer Center.

All proceeds generated from the sales of photographs and merchandise in the Live Awesome Gallery go to support Live Awesome charities.
